It’s almost that time of the year again. For the sneakerhead a holiday more sacred than Christmas. Air Max Day. For those that don’t know: this day takes place on the 26th of March.
March 26th, 2017. A special date for the Air Max 1 lovers. The Nike Air Max 1 made is its debut back in 1987. So this year we will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of one of the most iconic designs in sneaker history.
Yesterday I watched ‘Abstract’ on Netflix. A documentary about the art of design. Productdesign, architecture etc. Episode 2 is all about Tinker Hatfield. The greatest sneakerdesigner EVER. Even though I already knew a lot about the history behind the shoes, it’s still amazing to see where Tinker got his inspiration from and the way he works when he sits down and tries to come up with new futuristic designs. This episode is so dope. If you haven’t seen it yet, put it on your to-watch-list.
Mufucking right, my pockets looking kinda tight. 😅 . . . #airmax1 #airmaxalways #airmaxcity #airmaxday #beastpack #atmostokyo #atmos #mysneakermatch #mobilesneakers #highsnobiety #modernnotoriety #minimalmovement #basementapproved #sadp #sneakeraddiction #thedropdate #womft #wdywt #outfitfromabove #sneakerfiles #hypebeastkicks #hypebeast #streetfashion #pigalle #pigalleparis #cosstores
As a Dutch sneakerhead, I find the Air Max 1 one of my favourite sneakerdesigns of all time. One of the reasons is because when I grew up, this shoe meant a lot to the sneakerculture over here in The Netherlands. Collaborations of Amsterdam’s sneakerstore Patta, Dutch designer Piet Parra and the super exclusive ‘Albert Heijn’ Air Max made The Netherlands the Air Max 1 capital back in the days. Next to Tokyo’s Atmos releases.
So be prepared for this Sunday. Lace up and hit the streets with your best AM1.
